The Integrated Pest Management in the Home Garden and Landscape video series was created to support an IPM in the home garden and landscape hands-on workshop designed for Virginia Master Gardener training. However, videos in the series may also be used as stand-alone training for MG pesticide safety and/or IPM training. This series focuses on plant pathogens and plant disease rather than insects mites, weeds or other pest problems. However, the pesticide information and concepts related to IPM overviewed in these videos can be applied to other pest problems.
After viewing this video viewers should:
• have gained knowledge about information contained on a pesticide label and a general awareness of the relevance of this information.
• know that an “organic” label on a pesticide product does not reveal the acute toxicity of a product, but that the signal word on the label does
• have gained knowledge of the type of information contained in the Home Grounds and Animals Pest Management Guide and where to find the guide.
• have an idea of how to find and recognize pesticide products labeled for home grower use
